Last year I sowed some Oregon Sugar Wotsits (mangetout peas) about 3rd Feb from memory, in lengths of guttering about a metre long, about four of them, and we'd cropped enough to eat and freeze us for a lifetime.... (We're still eating from the freezer now!)
BUT, I sowed a different variety this year, namely 'Delikat'(?). Same guttering principle, but completely hopeless germination this year from this variety. Out of 100ish seeds, yesterday, I hoiked out a grand total of 18 germinated seedlings. And I promise you, no hope of the others germinating, I checked, and they've all rotted off.....
So, I've sown some 'Sugarsnap Peas' now in Rootrainers, having pre-germed them slightly beforehand. We'll see what they do, and then go from there.

Last year I bought some pea seeds from a company called 'Simply Vegetables'.
They are a very old variety dating from the 18th Century call 'Half Pint Pea' and they are VERY hardy. Also they are tiny, only growing a few inches high so they dont need sticks or supports and can be grown in pots on the patio. With minimal effort I managed a decent crop of extremely sweet and tasy peas.

I like the sound of these does the company have a website, could not pick anything up on google
When I was reading "Carol Klein Grow your own" yesterday she said that peas will season for around 2 weeks in the summer. Is that all? how true is it? if this is the case I am going to have to rethink my sowing times
