Seed potatoes for jacket potatoes

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone can recommend a good variety of seeds potatoes to grow for jacket potatoes - and any tips on how to get them a decent size growing them in bags (am guessing putting less seed potatoes in is better to allow room for them to grow bigger?)

Next spring's still a way bit off I know but thought I'd ask while I remembered!

Winston are a lovely shaped spud and are nice to use small or leave them bigger to bake.

When i was a fruit and veg buyer i always bought Cara for baking potatoes.
Ive ordered some from tattie man.
They are also good chipped and boiled.

Pentland Dell and Valor make good bakers (or did for me this year), also Setanta is very nice indeed. Dunno abou tr growing them in containers though, I only ever grow first earlies adn wacky things (Congo, Vitelotte etc) in pots...

Whatever variety you finall choose- make sure you chit them and then rub off a few of the chits before planing.
That will make the spuds bigger!

Never bothered myself so I can't honestly say how many chits to leave on.
