  • What seeds should I choose

I'm browsing the seed catalogues for the best seed to grow a giant pumpkin next year. Anyone willing to suggest one for me? I am also finding it hard to obtain seeds for Blue Hubbard, and Orange onion pumpkins, again for next year.

    thanks

Atlantic Giant is known for growing large, also jack a lantern is supposed to be a good carving one.
You could try moreveg or real seeds, I am sure they will have some of the ones you are looking for.

I think there may be some blue hubbard in the squash parcel - but it's kind of been stopped to restock - see the seed swapping forum for more info.

Jack O'Lantern, mentioned above, is good, and the fruit are nice and evenly-shaped, but it isn't particularly big.

            Hi Shirley,

I have some Atlantic Giant Pumpkin seeds, I am happy to share with you.
I was going to try and grow one for the little one next year.

            :-)

Have you tried Premier Seeds Direct on eBay? I bought Hubbard squash seeds as well as Butternut and Crown Prince from them last weekend.

                Hiya Franziska

Fantastic. I am going to dry the big oranage pumpkin seeds from my halloween one this year so we can swop some if you like. I have always wanted to grow a 'HUGE' one so maybe 2011 will be the year. Such weather, lovely to see some real sunshine. I'm going to the allotment today just to potter about and get some exercise. Probably be there on Saturday if weather is nice.
