To HeyWayne, and anyone who's looking for a 4-tier mini-greenhouse

The cheapest I've seen so far is at Robert Dyas - £12.99

(and boy, have I trudged to find that out!)

Seeds planted in greenhouse (unheated) has started sprouting - cabbage, lettuce, and other stuff can't remember.

Will plant more seeds this weekend to follow on from them

Instore ones are c**p. Larger 4 tier ones at Focus are better at £12.49 (normal price £24.99!...I wouldn't pay the full price for them though as they still not as good as my old ones).Got sweetpeas in mini-greenhouse,plus bucket of carrots, and tom seedlings which are ready to pot on standing on bedroom window ledge. Also got some leaf salad seed germinating on wet tissue on window ledge..Oh and potatoes chitting...got more than I thought!

Hi allI've just put in some parsnips and broad beans today (don't like the things myself but OH does) and I've just put some chillies and pepper and a couple of toms in the propagator. I'm usually the kiss of death to seeds so send all your good luck thoughts down my way please!

Having read through this thread, I am now reassured that I'm not the only one who hasnt really started planting anything yet. Got my tatties chitting in the unheated greenhouse, planted a couple of peppers and beans but thats it.
There is one chap on our lottie who has got some lovely, beans (I think) I do hope he covered them up because weve had a couple of bad frosts at the end of last week.
Hopefully OH will help me finished off my bed borders this week, then Im up for some serious digging over etc etc. May have to wait until the weekend - the weather forecast for the north west is snow tonight and tomorrow as well.
Question: Am I OK to plant some seeds in the greenhouse, despite the weather? If so, what? Also I have a heater, should I put this on overnight?
                Thanks in advance! DDL

As i sit here looking out the window at the snow coming down I count my blessings that I've not done much apart from a bit of ground preparation!!!!!

Oh great! Just to confuse the issue in the time its taken to write this it stopped snowing and the sun is shining. Think I'll move to another continent!!!!! :-)

I have not sown a thing yet either and was getting worried....until I saw this weeks weather forecast....happier now! Every year I try and wait till mid-late march befor sowing, this year I have managed to, just as well I think. My plot is cold and very exposed. Not very seedling friendly!
Potatoes are chitting well in the porch. So it's a start I guess.

Running out of space in the kitchen and dining room now that all the chillies etc are germinating and coming out of the propogators - need more windown ledges!!!! Even the toms that I planted only a week ago have come through, meant to plant more yesterday but couldn't face making it through the hail to the shed so they'll have to wait until next week.

Following on from other threads, decided to plant a single courgette seed last week to try and get some early crop in the conservatory / greenhouse and that's not far off needing repotting already so I may regret the idea.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Not a thing in the ground here in Aberdeen, and despite being desperate to get going on my new allotment I don't expect to sow anything in soil until mid to late April. I have a friend in the countryside hereabouts - admittedly the colder, more snowy bit - who says last year he didn't have anything out of the greenhouse until June !
As it is snowing and raining here today, I am not inclined to do anything other than eat, sleep, read and lurk on internet forums...

Well done Alison! You are doing really well! At least you can keep your seeds/seedlings protected from this weird weather we are having. I may plant a few more seeds at the weekend in the greenhouse. Hopefully by then the weather will have decided what its going to do. Bernie aka Dexterdog

I'm once again reassured by the collective grapes and their innactivity.

I froze my little wossits off on Sunday doing a bit of ground prep, and managed to put my first of two 4-tier mini greenhouses together last night. (I bought 2 from Frosts with free fleeces for £14.99 each). I haven't sown (sowed?) a single seed as yet. I'm hoping to get the seed trays etc at the weekend. Going to use one mini greenhouse to get stuff started and the other for growing toms in.

I always get a little disheartened when I here people getting things germinating on windowsills etc and I'm not doing a thing - can I do the same in my little greenhouse?

Oh and I've got my tatties chitting on top of the fridge in the kitchen.

Still nothing sown up here either, bar the peppers in the kitchen. Need a break in the weather to get cover on my tunnel then I'll be off and running. If it's not on by the weekend though, I am commandeering 2/3rds of my mates 30' by 30' tunnel so I can get started on my orders.
Will hopefully get some of the ploughing done this week so I can get me garlic and onions in, and some of my early tatties.
