  • What's happining to my potatoes?

I lost a couple of my pentland Javelin seed pots the other week, they were weeping this black stuff from them. I threw them away but another one has gone like it as well. Any ideeas what's causing this?

Phone the supplier or send one back and ask for a refund..then order from elsewhere.
Picture too small to see but it could be blight in which case the whole stock from that supplier could be infected
    Just what you don't want!!
    Oh and hello there Nicky!!

They're rotting, but not sure why. Have they been packed too close together, kept too warm and damp? You need to separate the rest of them from each other and make sure they get plenty of ventilation. If they're touching each other the rot will spread from one to the other. If they were certified seed potatoes they should be blight free, so I would guess it's more a storage problem.

Sorry the picture is small - it wouldn't let me send a bigger one for some reason.
They're spaced out in egg trays in the greenhouse so they're not touching each other. I hope it's not a bad batch as I got them from the allotment society that bought in .
I suppose they could be getting a bit hot in there with the last couple of days sunshine.... perhaps I'll have to go down there in the mornings and open the window and door......
