I've dug up a couple of parsnips today and they're not very fat or long so I was wondering have stopped growing now or can I expect them to get larger ?

Bren I thought that parsnips stopped growing when their leaves flop, a bit like onions. Parsnips are our most sucsessful crop each year although I think they get a little too big (6" x about 18"-2' )Little ol' me

I dug our first 3 parsnips today and they werent bad, in the oven now for our dinner, hopefully the frosts over the last few days have made them nice and tasty, I think they are slightly overcrowded to get to a real big size, still its the taste that counts.

how close together are they? I tried to get away without thinning them as much as is recommended one year and really affected the size. They genuinely do need space to swell up.A girl trying garden in Iceland

Last season I didn't thin at all and they just pushed each other apart. Got varying sizes, some monstrous, some wee, some in between, but I prefer them smaller anyway. Need to go down later and see if I can chisel one out. Don't fancy me chances
