The centre of my garden floods at every oppertunity. Its not because of running water gathering, it just doesnt seem to drain for days at a time. Is there any way I can help it, bar spending oodles of cash for a field drain?

[QUOTE=solway cropper;778536]Do you know what's underneath the bit that floods?
QUOTE]
Well, I dont think its anything but the composition thats making it flood, it was my mothers house from new, and I think the flooded area is just a general dip in the garden. Half of the garden is turfed and the other half is patio paved, and it seems to flood most were they join. It does eventually go away, but it can take 2 days after a bad storm

Push a fork around the area to see if that helps, it may be just compacted clay.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

OK, I was just wondering if it was a new build, on top of rubble or whatever. It could be, that building the patio, has blocked the route that the water would have originally used to disperse. Spiking the ground and brushing in sharp sand may help. After it has thawed that is! Good luck! All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

Now I come to think, it didnt flood pre- patio, but I'm hoping to get a new one in the new year, so, I will bear that in mind.
I have an electric junction box under the part where it floods, and I have had problems with it since my gates were instaled, but a "proper" electrician sorted it out last semtember, so hopefully that side of it wont be a problem anymore,Attached Files
