Noticed that no-one has sown any cucumbers yet. Is there any reason why you cant sow them this early?

Lack of light, and the fact that they will be a bit huge (5' I would guess) by the time a cold greenhouse is warm enough for them (Min 10C at night) - they really hate the cold, and damp.

But if you have a heated greenhouse then No Problem! (Light still a bit of an issue, but they would be OK I think - I expect commercial growers start them now, without lights)

My new greenhouse is still lying on the patio unopened as yet, but I do comandeer the conservatory every year about this time, as I am overwintering citrus in there, so I will give it a go!
          Thanks

They are so sensitive to the cold that you have to keep them inside till may/june - by which time they're silly, weak, leggy plants that don't do that well anyway!

Sown some chillis and peppers today (chilli thread)
Ailsa Craig onions inside some in cells some in a pot and Red Hot Poker inside too. Early Nantes carrots and Witkiem man. BB in a cold g/h

Oh, and some mistletoe berries onto the old apple tree

Cleaned out the greenhouse and brought all my Strawberry plants in and tidied them all up.
They are all showing some new growth so looking good for this season.
Last year I lost a lot of plants but no casualties this year.

Broad beans - Some planted in pots in a heated prop, some in an unheated prop and some sat in pots on the window ledge. Three different ways will hopefully show me some success

Its all new and its all fun!

Chillies - Cayenne in pots in a heated prop.
                Garlic - Sown outside.
Toms - Both Red Cherry and Alicante in a heated prop.

I sowed 172 Ailsa Craig onions and 153 Ishikuro (spring onions) in seed trays and tucked them up in the airing cupboard. They're both old packets so I went a bit over the top, assuming the germination rate would be low. Not sure what I'll do if they all come up.
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.
