Good grief! I just did a comparison vs organic parsnips (as that's what I'd have bought) - from Tesco @ £2.94/kg - I've pulled 2Kg out so far, and your sheet shows me I've saved £5.88 ! shocking.

Just a thought though - would it be worth adding in the seed cost into the saving formula? My pack of seeds £1.89, so I guess so far I'd saved £3.99 on parsnips if expenditure per item is included.

thanks ZAZ just what i was looking for may add a vlookup formula for the seeds and misc spend so it will automatically pull it through,

Hi Chris - this is why I started thinking about this stuff. I went in to my local co-op and saw a butternut squash for £1.50 around the time I was harvesting mine. I grow a lot of squashes, and on that basis I must have saved myself at least £35 this year!

Phew I'm not alone!!! My hubby thinks i have lost the plot.
Not done for savings yet - but- have just entered all my seeds onto a spread sheet, 3 pages herbs /flowers /veg.
                Included in info type/name/cost per pkt/sow when/sow to/where to sow/date on pkt/date sown /results.
Have taught self how to add up price of seeds and how to get the side column and top row to move when scrolling. Also how to do a custom sort in to monthly order of when to sow.

                  Hi Zaz

Unlike your good self I hate trying to make spreadsheets. They know its me and refuse to work!!!!! Damn their eyes.

I have downloaded your spreadsheet and tried to enter a few bits to get a feel for it. However when I enter values in Broad beans, then put cost per Kg in refuses to do the math and give the answer. If I tweak for first two examples it changes away as happy as Larry? What am I doing wrong!

I've started doing everything in Excel. To Do Lists, seed lists - and my OH also thinks I'm nuts.

Have you copied and pasted the calculation down the column? You need to copy it from E3 down to the cell that you want it to calculate into

We kinda do on the Allotment Advice thread except some keep a manual written record.
