today the kids and i planted the following in our heated propogator on the kitchen window sill
6 x cherry tomato
6 x beef tomato
6 x hot chille pepper
6 x ceyanne pepper
and 10 x chille medusa that i harvested from last years plant
fingers crossed they will work at least in part to fire the kids imagination for the coming year
today i checked the propogator and found that the 6 beef toms are around 1 inch high seedlings and some of the chillies have broken the surface.....
the excitement is back again and the winter is over ......officially!! lol

Until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
i got 4 x 100's 1000's at a couple of inches high out of 8 sown - rejected 2 cos they went really leggy. then i read that repotting leggy seedlings can be okay if you plant them lower down cos sideroots will form. oh well you learn these things by trial and error
a few red cherry just peeking through - free seeds from a magazine in the heated prop.
we'll see how those go in these days of little light.
cheers
p
just had a quick check and looks like theyve all came up.
i just hope they get enough light now and stop them going too leggy.
the chillies in the airing cupboard have not done anything yet though.
Look after that one chuck - it's gonna be a good one
I've not sowed or anything-ed since Sunday so I'm going to sow a few more toms this weekend. I even have a tray of compost I brought in to warm up, sat here waiting. I'm surprised Mr Z hasn't chucked it by now.
I'm waiting for this lot to all move out of the airing cupboard before I can sow some more......As soon as they start to emerge they go into the kitchen and the light...
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig a batch of jam is always an act of creation ..Christine Ferber
i checked the HP today and the tomato seedlings are getting big and leaning toward the light (about 2inch long) should i replant them into pots and move them to another window sill or give them a bit more time in there????
chillies are also starting to show

I think all my tomatoes have now germinated. Waiting for their first set of true leaves and slowly have to get some pots out, so I can plant the leggy seedlings deep
