Thanks bugs. Getting kinda fed up waiting though. Tried 2 last year with no result, 2 now for 4 or more weeks in the heated propagator - getting to be expensive loofah! Only 2 seeds left and honestly not much hope for those.

It does take a long time, but I got one out of two to grow, and it's now a healthy looking plant. This is my second time of trying, last year's didn't work.
Am still nursing it at home as I don't have a heated greenhouse.

Resurecting this old thread to see if anyone had success in harvesting some loofah. Don't know that these members are still around mind you.

Me too VC, I planned buying seeds at the end of last year and forgot. I think they need to be sown really early as they need quite a long season.

Definately next year.......will you mind me lol.

                Hi.
I've just found this post - waaay over-due, I know.
I'm interested in growing loofas and wondered if you remember where you found your info?
                Are they easy(ish) to grow?
I live in the Creuse (dept 23) and have hunted On Line but can't find any references to a French Gardening mag that says about growing them.
I have an 18mtr poly tunnel and about 15mtrs of South facing wall where I should be able to (hopefully) grow them

                Thanks for any help
