planted some seeds have a unexpected result

Hi all

2 weeks ago i planted some seeds:

onion
cauliflower
chilli

now out of the 6 cauliflower's 2 have come up but the onion's have very small mushrooms.

what have i done wrong?

Can you describe the mushrooms or post a piccie? When onions germinate, you get a green thread-like shoot, usually with the onion seed on the top.

The chillie seeds might take a bit longer to germinate. The cauliflower seed may not all pop up at once, but within a few days of each other. As Shirl says, could you post a picture of what you describe as "mushrooms"? I don't think you've done anything "wrong", all will be well I'm sure, don't worry and if it's not, well you sow some more seed.

The mushrooms are probably from spores in the soil.

I had mushrooms last year - I wouldn't worry about it, just gently pull them out.

Not as far as I'm aware......i've had them as well before......it's the warm damp soil that seems to get them growing especially in those degradable pots....

gonna plant somemore this weekend try not to drown them this time

I wouldn't use biodegradeable pots at this time of year, they rot before you can get them planted out. As you say, don't drown them, have the soil 'just moist'

Sow some more, use a plastic pot, get more light to them and you'll have more success

well i looked today and i have 2 cauliflower 1 onion annd 1 chilli


they must be drying a bit. im going to plant more i love this bit cause you have to wait and see what grows!
