  • Thoughts on following on...

    I'm working on the plan for the veg plot (garden raised beds rather than a lottie) and wondered if you could share your experience!

    What follows on well from what?

    I've got some idea of timings to get things in - or at least when to sow - but I'm much less sure of when I can assume that things are finished (or at least close to finished so something else can go in)!

    For info, the starting stuff will be

    * Leaves followed by kale
    * Leaves followed by sprouts
    * Climbing French Bean
    * Dwarf French Bean
    * Peans
    * Courgette
    * Chard
    * Beetroot
    * Onions (red, from seed)
    * Broad Beans (spring sown)
    * Bush tomatoes
    * Sweetcorn (with beans & courgettes)

    Any suggestions much appreciated!
    thanks

      Thank you! That's given me some ideas...

      I think I probably leave things too long - waiting for the last possible courgette or the last possible broad bean - rather than dig up earlier to replace.
      The other challenge is for climbing french bean which I like to leave to dry the beans - which means they are there until November! I guess I'm stuck there

      I'm trying out a couple of mini polytunnels (or Portable Plant Protectors as the manufacturers call them!) so this might also allow a bit more overwintering / early spring

      cheers
