So what would you choose.........

I have limited space on the GH , I think I have room for ten tom plants at the most. My problem is which ones ? I have PW's French Black , Amish Paste and Tigerella (none of which I've grown before ) , Roma and Cost. Fiorentino . What to do ?
How many of each shall I choose ...............?

im growing french black tigerella and roma.there deff 3 of my best veriaties and i would count them in first.even if you can only sqeeze in 2 of each.

I'd grow a couple of each variety if my space were limited. I wish my space was limited, I grow far too many!

PW's French Black are really very tasty so defo grow some of them. Personally as FF says, grow a mix, that way the harvest will be extended and you'll get some lovely salads etc.

I didn't think Tigerella were all that tasty Bins, but maybe I overwatered them abit. I'd grow a couple of each too (and maybe substitute Tigerella for Sungold which I luuurve ). Don't forget to leave yourself some room for aubergines and peppers and chillis and and.....now I have greenhouse envy

Tigerella are pretty. But I like Sungold for the same reason. Costolutto Fiorentino were fine, but I wasn't impressed with the flavour of Roma. However, Roma had a good crop, and made deeeeeeeelish Tomato Soup!

This year I'm going to grow far less, and pot on the 'armpits' when it gets to that stage!

I'm trying Roma this year for the first time because my daughter cooks with my tomatoes and these are reputed to have less seeds, so better for soups etc.

Sounds divine, I've got Romas on the go at the mo and love tomato soup.

Just been up to the gH and realised I actually had twelve plants in there last year along with aubs and chillies and I had planned on two melons which didn't happen , So three of each apart from the Cost. F , which will be two.

I wasn't that impressed with tigerella, it looked nice, but didn't do a lot for me flavour wise. Costoluto, they made good passata, and salads, but didn't do particularly well.
The only time I grew Amish Paste, they got blight, so can't comment on those and never have grown Roma.
For good taste, and fresh toms for eating, I'd grow more of the black tomatoes. For cooking etc, I'd probably grow the Roma, and either Amish Paste or Costoluto, and leave the Tigerella completely.

I've got some ferline and harbinger for outdoors , last year the blight didn't touch the ferline and they were quite tasty . Still experimenting with different varieties a bit so I'll maybe reduce the tigerellas to two and have an extra French black.........

I grew my Roma outdoors this year - and the Costoluto. They got blight eventually - but it wasn't till late in the season. Maybe it wasn't a bad blight year?
