Heated propagator

I bought a small electric prop last week and I don't think it works
I set it up yesterday and switched it on, no seeds in yet and 2 hours later it was not warm. Should it be warm enough to feel that it is on IYKWIM?
It is a Stewart seed tray sized one. Help!

If you have a feel of the bottom - it really should feel warm.

You can normally tell as when you lift the lid, there is condensation on the lid, which drips all over the place as you carefully try to direct it back in.

That's what I thought. I have packed it back up and will exchange it. Luckily the GC is not far away, I need to sow my chillis.

I would take it back to the dodgy garden centre that sold it too you!

It was last years stock so a bit cheaper so might have got damaged, hold out for a new one. I am in on Tuesday if you can wait that long?

Swapped over, no probs. Strangely enough the young lass that served me remembers me coming in, can't imagine why Perhaps it was the giggling and the £123 blueberry bush that did it

There was a ticket error on one plant £123.99 instad of £12.99.

I dream about having a heated propagator but so far, all hints have fallen on deaf ears ("people have been growing veg successfully in unheated ones for years haven't they" - is the typical response). Happily a suggestion to my six year old for a Mothers Day gift should reap results .....

I wondered if mine was working when I first used it last year, because I couldn't feel any heat, but it was - the heat is very gentle indeed, so you can't always feel it too obviously, but I get lots of condensation inside the top after a while. I think different ones are different power levels.
