If I've run out of salt I like to give them chance and relocate them to the road so that they can play with the cars!

Last year i used pellets and they worked fairly well although inevitably a good few seemed to get through, especially around the strawberry plants. I also had copious amounts of hay down which seemed to do very little.

this year however my son will be two and a half by the summer so the pellets aren't really an option. Although i'll only be growing in pots (moved house since last year and have no growing space) i'm interested if anyone has any cheap/free techniques similar to the one i read about egg shells? Is salt the way forward?!

I like to place a ring of rock salt on a concrete area in the sun and place the slugs and snails in the centre,it's either death by salt, dry out in the sun or eaten by the blackbirds,at least there's a choice!

            Oh My Word!!

I was here looking for slug killing tips but i didn't realise i needed to bring a sick bag with me.

Stomping on snails? Doing that always makes be cringe. And cutting up slugs with scissors???

I feel like i need to go out buy a garden Arnie to help me out. Cos i sure as hell wouldn't be back if i had to resort to cutting them up!

And no i'm not a " don't hurt the slugs" kinda person. More power to you you Garden Warriors. But i think it's a pond, chickens or over the fence as my slug solution.

Luckily we get very few here, but any I do find, get thrown to the Chooks and Geese - they don't last long in there!

I don't really have a slug problem. I've been making parts of the garden off limits to growing, besides the compost heap, to encourage the army of slow worms that seem to like living there.

I didn't have any slugs last year. Maybe I was lucky. Rabbits are the biggest pests for me. Lettuce doesn't get much farther than seedling stage by the time the bunnies get them. Having to construct net lids for my raised beds.

If they get through those, it'll be rabbit stew for tea
