Staking Purple sprouting broccolli

The biggest of mine blew over in November gales and the tops are now growing upright with 2-3ft of stalk lying on the ground.

Should I lift them up and stake them - or leave them, and they grow extra roots from the stem?

leave them. Next year, stamp them in well, and earth up the stem too. If your site is very exposed (windy), stake them

Yea.. mine got frozen to death, battered by the winds and engulfed in the deep snow. I dont think i will get much more than a couple of boilings off, so i may cut my losses and pull it up early.

Don't pull it up, mine looks pretty good this year but last year had a right battering and although I lost one of them the other plants gave me a really good crop, just rather later than normal.

Ours were completely done in by the snow. Nothing whatsoever to salvage. That said I didn't need to stake them season before last and while they were set back a bit by the snow they didn't fall over.

Mine are looking really healthy, I'm quite surprised.

I've never staked mine yet - I'm more worried about my shed than my PSB!

In that case I'll stake half and leave the rest sprawling, they're big healthy plants so I should get a good crop anyway.

Mine look a total mess but I'm just leaving them be.Even though most of the bottom foliage turned either yellow or to slime there's a lot of new growth at the tops,so hopefully they'll recover at least a little.

I'll be staking them next year

Mine were a total mess, lost the lot. still, try again this year
