A drop of the hard stuff...

I was thinking about this thread on the way to the Mini Grapefest today - it's just getting to that time isn't it!

My first armpit will hopefully come off later this week....

I thought I was way behind, because I've only just got armpits big enough to take off. I've got half a dozen sitting under bottle cloches now

I picked off a tiny one (2"?) yesterday when potting on, just rammed it in compost (was going to bin it anyway, as I'd knocked it before picking it off) to see if it works. *shrug*

You should never suggest this sort of thing to an obsessive.

6 jars of armpits and counting...

I am doing a Tigrella - 5 armpits so far, a marmande - 4 armpits so far, and a Golden sunrise - 1 armpit! They seem to have stalled slightly with this cooler weather... but I'm hoping for a bit of sun to get them going again!

Hmmmmm dont seem to be able to attach a pic of the tigrella! Oh well

I do this every year, even into early July. I just can't bear to throw them in the bin. I know it doesn't make sense - Too many and too late, yet I can't resist! Help!

That's why we have the challenge Hillwalker! To give us a reason for this madness....

I have a fair few armpits out at the moment, but am only recording numbers for my sungold....of which there is just the one at the moment. Many more to come I am sure. I haven't actually looked at it since we got back so perhaps tomorrow night I'll have another...

My poor Tigerella's feeling inadequate now Jelliebabe. He's nowhere near as big as yours and only has 1 armpit big enough to harvest.

Well I keep telling my toms to get a wiggle on and grow some armpits for me. Will they do as they're told?
Hopefully now the weather is starting to warm up a bit they'll get going.

I thought I wouldn't really bother with my gardener's delight but then thought why not I have 9 armpits growing from my strongest plant which is about 4ft tall in the greenhouse now. Each armpits about 4"-6" tall but they have stalled somewhat and haven't moved for a good 2 weeks really.

That started really well. I had oodles of Sungold armpits that had reached the 4" pot size and even a few that had made it into 5" pots, getting ready to be planted out...

and then Grumpy took them to the lottie and mixed them up with the Principe Borghese and San Marzano ones

Poor Grumpy - he is trying

Did anyone else have any luck?

I did pot on lots of armpits, but none of them were really worth the bother. Interesting thing to try though
