Are you sure they have? No-one, including mods and admin, can 'doctor' anything without a note at the bottom saying 'last edited by...'. Are there any examples of this

I assumed if they used your 'words' so to speak, then as a token of appreciation they gave you a voucher....

I've had several things in different articles over the last few years, but never received a voucher for them...but then, in fairness, I don't think one was ever offered on those particular threads.

Like Flum, I got a bit fed up with the 'editing' process and stopped posting on Magazine threads for a while, but sometimes I have a pearl of wisdom to impart (I know! Who'd have thought it!), so I think might as well post, who knows it might be helpful to someone.

You get a voucher for some contributions but not others. I guess it's up to individuals whether they wish to contribute 'unpaid' ...? We do get free access to the Grapevine after all

Yes If you look at older posts by the staff in vegging out section they have been edited within the last month.

Yeah well it seems I am the one who was mistaken then, but only made the point because I thought others should know of this change.

The vine is great.... but if I had to pay for it, I wouldnt use it.

It has ALWAYS been that if your comments are used in 'Over to You' (it had a different name before) then you get a voucher because that feature is 'sponsored' by T&M. If your comments are used elsewhere, then you DON'T get a voucher. I was quoted 3 times in one month and got no vouchers, twice the next and got none...

I think that Holly's threads were possibly edited to change the month that the quotes might be in the magazine - that has happened before when editorial reshuffles happen, but Seahorse has asked for clarification anyway.

Hand on heart - I can honesty say I don't remember there ever being mention in Holly's Sticky Threads about a voucher. I thought the only place I've seen it is in the GYO mag itself.

I've just checked back to Holly's first few threads...there is absolutely no mention of T&M vouchers.

I've had them in the past for £10...but can't recall which section they were in.
Latest was in 'Pest's I think...Albert peacock eating every thing in sight!

I don't contribute to Holly's posts, as I feel they are short changing the magazine paying customer. I don't buy the magazine, as feel they pad it out with loads of hear say, advertising and other stuff that I'm not prepared to pay for. I realise I'm likely to be in the minority on here with this view (and maybe shot down), but as someone else has already mentioned, I wouldn't pay to access this site either. Having said that, I do appreciate contributions and reading stuff on here, so no offence to folk on the grapevine, just wouldn't pay for it.

I think its a bit unfair to criticise the magazine for editing our posts. We are amateur writers after all and even the professional writers will have to suffer the indignity of a sub editor putting something into a "more attractive to the reader form" before it goes in to print.

But they are paid, we are not.

I WOULD pay for access to the Vine. I no longer subscribe to the magazine.

I'm afraid I've had a contribution edited to the point where it made me look and sound like a complete fool. I was not impressed at all, my post had been well considered and worded.

The main problem, in that instance, was that the initial question from the magazine was too 'open', and invited long, full reponses from us. I kicked up a bit of a stink, and since then there has always been a disclaimer on the bottom of the initial post saying that 'your answer may be edited for inclusion in the magazine', and also the questions have been better posed.

I would also happily pay a sub to access the Vine. Or I would if I wasn't working here As it is, we aren't being asked to But, I don't mind if the odd thing of mine is printed in the mag. with no payment. Although, I wouldn't say no to being paid for a nice long article either... (hint hint )
