Hi all
Very new fruit and veg grower here, dabble with a few spuds and tomatos last year that did well, this year I'm going for it BIG time!!
Anyway, I bought some potato tubers a couple of weeks ago, didnt want them to chit straight away, so for some reason (dont ask me why!) I thought, cant keep in plastic bags, lets wrap them in newspaper and store them in a large paper shopping bag.
I thought i was being sensible . I've now gone to get them out to start chitting and they have started sprouting white shoots already. ( I now know its because they were in the dark!) They arnt too long yet maybe 1/2 - 1cm long. If I put them in the light now with they turn green/purple and healthy or should I rub them all off and start again. I've heard thet if you rub them off the chits wont grow in the same place, they will grow from another eye if available.
Much advice needed, Thanks Giggler x
Oh forgot to say (in all my ramblings!) They are various sorts, earlies, 2nd earlies, maincrop and salad. I dont want them all ready at the same time so should I chit some later than others to allow for a successional crop or shove them all in at the same time. x
