After Harvesting

I have done my plan for the allotment of what is to go where but my question is: When I have harvested the crops e.g potatoes, broccoli, what can I put in to stop the weeds from taking over?

Do I have to keep with the strict rotation as most crops need starting long before they go in and won't keep that long.

I have read in a book that items, such as spring onions, radish can be put in without affecting the rotation. Is this true? or do I just plant green manure until the rotation starts again next year?

I hope my question makes sense as I am at a bit of a loss.

Don't get too wound up about rotation, it does get complicated.

I always have pumpkins waiting in the wings to go in any spaces

When the pumpkins come out, green manures go in

I followed my potatoes with leeks, they can sit for ages in pots ready and waiting .....I will have courgettes waiting to go in after the PSB.......

Thank you for your replies. It seems to make a bit more sense now. The leeks I can do as I love those and can grow hundreds.

What is PSB though?

I have things like lettuce, radish and spring onions to go in any empty spaces where things have finished but sometimes the rotation goes to pot, don't fret over it too much.
