Bren in Pots kindly sent me three Scotch Bonnet seeds which I sowed on January 21st and they still haven't put in an appearance. I know Bren said hers had taken about 16 days, but surely 25 is a bit excessive?

FF mine went in the propagator on 11th Jan and spouted on the 28th so yours do seem to be taking ages

Chilli seeds can take a long time to germinate so I'd not give up hope yet.
They do like heat tho' and bottom heat works well for me. Keep moist but not wet.The proof of the growing is in the eating.
Leave Rotten Fruit.
Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potasium - potash.

I had a Purple Tiger pop up at the weekend which has taken 3.5weeks although another one came through in a few days. Chillis can be strange like that

as long as they havent dampened off or gone mouldy they should germinate....the hotter the varieties (Chinense) tend to take a lot longer to germinate.Impossible is not a fact its an opinion...

I've had some habs take 5 weeks to germinate, so I wouldnt worry yet, FF.

I put mine in the airing cupboard Florence, took them out the minute they popped up...took about 11 days I think, they really don't seem to be moving at all though still really tiny, I wonder if it's the cold weather and short days?Comment

The one that has popped up is really tiny Amy, I'm just hoping the other two make it now. I've never used a heated prop, or the airing cupboard for chillie germination, but I may have a go now!Granny on the Game in SheffieldComment

i sowed 3 different chilli types,scotch bonnet,peruvian purple,albertos locoto, in separate 3inch pots,placed inside a cheap wiko's sandwich poly bag,just tied the top in a knot,in the day they were put directly on top of the radiator,under the window,moving of odd times so not to over heat,remove at night,,they come up within 2 weeks,have also done this with flower seeds,and the clear plastic tops on instead of a bag,no need to spend out on a heated prop,if you have several items,put them in a larger container,inside a large plastic bag like of bedding,works great,sigpicAnother nutter ,wife,mother, nan and nanan,love my growing places,seed collection and sharing,also one of these
