Mutated seedlings - for the chop?

Sometimes I have seedlings come up without two seed leaves, sometimes with only one leaf and sometimes with three whereas most come up with two, and sometimes they come up with two leaves but they may be slightly disformed...

I had a couple of these last year but didn't keep track on what happened to them so I don't know the answer to my own question, which is - should these seedlings be done away with as they are likely to be weaker, to leave more room for the other seedlings in that module where more than one is sown, or are they just as likely to thrive?

Difficult to give an opinion without knowing what you are trying to propogate.

Sorry, it wasn't about a specific seedling, though I do have a tomato seedling with three leaves this year, last year I think it was a cuc that came up with one seed leaf

3 leaves is fine.

One leaf - wait to see if the next 2 leaves grow.

Thanks Zazen, having thought about it a bit more I think last years cuc seed was one that got slept on by the cat, so I think that's what did it in in the end! The beast is already eyeing up my windowsill prop, I don't dare take the lid off

If you can believe it, three seed leaves (Tricot) on a tomato plant seedling is supposed to be a sign of a stronger growing plant, but I can tell you that you won't see much difference in their growth. I get them here quite often too.

Our cats have been banned from my office due to their evil tendancies towards seedlings. (one sits on them and the other bites the tops off)

Although not qite on topic, the photo below shows a mutation of a tomato plant which threw a single flower and the leader stopped growing. I solved the problem by allowing a sideshoot to develop and used that as a replacement leader. Otherwise that plant would have had to get the chop as a single tomato from a plant is not an acceptable yield.
