Protecting winter onions from snow

Hi

My winter onions have only just showed through this week, about 2inch of green growth through the soil..

We have a weather warning tomorrow for heavy snow ... will they survive?

Can i do anything to help them, im reluctant to cover with fleece, as the weight of the snow on that will surely crush them?

Your onions should be realatively hardy and only a really hard frost should cause them lasting damage. Snow is an excellent insulator so should do no harm.

Mine were at that stage when we had the big dump in December. They were covered with snow for a few days and I was worried for them, but they've come back and are now going great guns.

Same here with regards to the December snow. Seem to have recovered fine. The toddlers footprints are more of a concern for me grrrrr.
