    I assume you mean Celery.
Given you can buy them at ALDI for 39p and growing them is not all that simple, I wouldn't bother. Concentrate on things that work well and you get most return from ( cash as well as enjoyment ).

But if you must then people used to recommend soot to keep the slugs at bay.
Slugs love celery and the chances are you will get more slugs than celery.

I don't have a huge allotment so you might get more success on a larger scale !

I know celery is difficult but there is the challenge of growing your own. From my experience last year which was ok but I hope to better this year. Give it a good start in pots before you plant it ou, keep your eyes open to pick off leaves that have been attacked by the leaf miner and water,water,water........then water some more and mulch round them to keep the ground moist. Good luck

You're halfway there then, for celery. I find celeriac easier, but even that failed last year (too hot, too dry in July)

Yups watering is three quarters of the battle as celery is a bog plant. be sure to treat regularily with calcium nitrate (the only soluble form of calcium)in order to prevent heart rot.

Top Tip - if you just want celery for soups or you have big pots; grow in those and make sure it stands in a saucer of water that is permanently full.

We've had no luck with normal celery, but our leaf celery (kintsai) crop was amazing. I'm growing loads more this year. It was excellent in soups and stuff. We've kept some in the freezer and just throw some in when we make soups, stews, and similar things. Far easier and hardier.
