Have real difficuly finding celariac seed at any local shops, don't want to order from catalogue and pay postage for 1 packet, any one know where to look

It needs plenty of water (as has been said) and a long growing season, and so not worth growing unless you start the seeds off about now. I grow mine in pots (probably ought to use newspaper pots or loo rolls to avoid transplant-shock). They are very small, and grow very slowly as seedlings, so it can be a month before they are ready for pricking out.K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden

The trouble is that it stays in the ground for so long and takes up space that could be used by something more useful. If you have the space then grow it.
I like the taste of celery so I grow it with no problems and I also like turnips so I grow them as well. But turnip rooted celery....mmmm. Nice idea but give me the real thing.
