    As others have said - whether it's grass or lawn, it could be dug out, turned over and used for something more edible!

            In my mind lawns always have stripes and are always mown, though oddly enough I 'cut the grass' at home - which is a relatively nice bit of green which I CAN get stripes on if I can be bothered. But I always 'mow the Paddock' which is deffinately NOT of lawn quality!

              If he was in the chicken run you would know where he was! My lawn has become a veg. garden but I also have a patch of long grass as a contribution to biodiversity.

                If you have to mow the paddock, you don't have enough animals!
