New Member's First Question about Swedes

Hi everyone,
I have looked on here quite a lot, so thanks to all for the advice.
Then I realised that I should sign up.
(I am a bit slow like that)

I tried growing swedes last year and the successful ones were well worth it,
many, however were small and didn't bulb.
(Reading on here, it is just a lack of watering)

Anyway, what with one thing or another, the little ones are still in the ground.
I was just about to pull them up, but then wondered if there is a small chance that they would swell this year if i left them in?

They are nice and healthy looking.

I would pull them up. Botanically speaking swedes are biennials, which means that they will flower in their second year in the ground. So I don't think you'd get much of a harvest if you left them in.

Hi Chuffedas, welcome to the Vine. The only Swedes i know anything about are the 2 legged ones. No doubt there will be plenty on hand to help you out.

If there is no hurry to dig up your swedes, leave them in situ until they form seed heads. Every bit as tasty as PS Broccoli.
