Ooooh, what a good idea for a thread VVG! This is my first year trying Lunar planting. Mods, could we have this thread as a 'sticky' do you think?

Thank you, I don't know how to make a sticky - do the mods do it?

I am [when I can] - but I won't have time to update this thread every day/week with what people should be planting on which day....so if someone wants to do that and explains the differences between the different systems - then we'll stick it!

What is lunar planting? It sounds like mumbo jumbo to me.........am I right? I appreciate the scientific effect of the moon on the tides etc but planting?? I am not sure but would like to hear the scientific argument proving the benefits........I will go surfing to find out more but if there is no science supporting this there should not be a sticky thread. The vine would lose credibility.......

The Gardening by the Moon Calendar is based on the geocentric and astrological calculations.

I found the above quote which proves that it is mumbo jumbo! Astrology is proven to be mumbo jumbo......Brian Cox says so and no doubt Two Sheds will confirm it!

So it follows that planting based upon astrological influence is complete codswallop........

Indeed I do but that does not prove anything....but a one line sarcastic response only compounds my current opinion.....

I found the quote linking it to astrology here......

I remember seeing an elderly allotmenteer on "The Big Dig" moon plant potatoes alongside a normally planted row of potatoes and he was amazed when the moon planted were the best. There must be something in it - I think you have to try before you dismiss it altogether.
