      • Welcome Snadger and to all our regular moon planters. I apologise for the very late reminder yesterday. Mr VVG went to hospital with chest pains and pins and needles in his left arm. Anyhow, he is well and so I am back with our reminders on the lunar schedule.
I have planted Brussels Sprout Maximus, Watercress and Rainbow Chard today as it is a leaf day.

          Waxing Moon

Biodynamic - Moon in Aries/Fire sign - Sow fruiting plants like Aubergine, Beans (all), Courgettes, Cucumbers, Marrows, Okra, Peas, Peppers, Pumpkins, Squashes, Sweetcorn, Tomatoes.

Synodic - Sow leaf, fruit and flowering vegetables/annuals that produce above ground. Not a good time for root sowing. Grains are also good to plant now.

Nothing to do with rain - look up "new moon" and you will see why.

              • Looks like a busy week, Sorted out all my leaf veg yesterday ,everything growing so well and transplanted cabbages but decided against putting Brussel sprouts in plot, good height but think need a bit more time outside first. Today I transplanted my peas- Kelvedon and mangetout to plot, put some strawberries left over from bed to new polytunnel, and then came home and decided to repot Climbing french beans, their roots are hugh and long. Noticed my parsnips coming through, as have heavy clay soil I made a hole with big dibber filled with sand and compost and seeded on top. Tomorrow think I'll need to put toms in bigger pots as they look like flowering soon ,also trying to work out if broad beans need nipping out yet, looks like mini beans appearing. All planted by Moon dates

WOW Morvengirl! The guidance is nip the tops once first beans at bottom come through as it discourages the blackfly.

                  Go girl...

                      • I'd only actually nip out broadies if you actually get blackfly; I never have so never nip anything out.

                          • I got really bad black fly on my BB on my raised bed at home last year, this year I have 2 lots, again in raised bed at home plus on my plot. Noticed some blackening on edge of leaves (plot) but as very windy i erected an old beach wind break to see if it helps.Transplanted some sweetcorn yesterday from seed tray, roots were about 6 inches long. Now in toilet rolls. Tomatoes growing well and I had to find something to stake them with--BBQ skewers did the trick, just right size for now

                            • Right, I want to give this a go.. just about to go and sow some more seeds now, but I'm still confused. The three systems all contradict each other? Why is that? What's the majority of the one followed?

                              • Where are you lot sowing all these tender crops - indoors? Under glass, bringing in at night time?
