my geoff hamilton cloche :)

Anyone else built a Geoff Hamilton cloche recently? Used mine last year for sweetcorn so I could plant it out nice and early mid April. But the snow broke it - it was just cheap b&q plastic covering (very thin).

Just rebuilt it, strengthened the frame, and covered it with 600 guage polytunnel cover this time Probably overkill but atleast it will last.

Oh for anyone doesnt know - the guy built them on gardener's world ages ago. Basic wooden frame with the blue pipe struts. I add bamboo cane (or dowel) supports. Much stronger than just pinning the plastic down over some bent pipes, but maybe less flexible in use.

I've mentioned previously (and shown photos I think) of some somewhat more engineered cloches (minipolytunnels) - mine are still fine, but they are on a metal frame and with proper polytunnel covers (!)

Beware of willow Jeno...it'll root really easily, my dad did that years ago...used willow that is, not rooted .

I used my old blow away greenhouse frame and covered it in bubble wrap with a flap left at the front, 4 ft wide by 3 ft deep and 3 ft tall. It worked a treat.
