Gone peat free - nothing germinating arrg

lol - I have no idea. Was looking at something today which said peat free goes off quicker that's all and I thought oops. I have loads now - but to be honest I'll probably end up using it all anyway

I grew peat free for at least the last 10 years. Germination can be slow but the seeds should come up eventually if they are viable. I always use the cheapest compost I can find and seive out the coarser lumps before sowing. However the quality of the compost has been deteriorating and I have now switched back to peat based. I stopped buying it when its use as a compost was deplored. I lost interest in that cause when I found that peat is used legally and openly as a fuel in Scotland and Ireland. If peat is going to be cut it will do much more good in my garden (and yours) than on somebody's fire.
