For last 2 years my peas have grown to high for supports,is it o/k to pinch put tops as for runner beans?

As far as I have been told yes, you can nip of the tops safely. Some people might have other advice.

It very much depends on whether you are talking dwarf or long peas to be honest......as long peas need the height or they won't produce as much.
