I just watched this programme on Sky 166 and thoroughly enjoyed it!! Down to earth practical gardening advice and a proper allotment! I'm now off to plant broad beans as, contrary to what I thought, it's not too late according to the programme

Horses for courses. I didn't like it, I thought the presentation was a bit amateur, with lots of "y' knows". It has some great info for beginners, it's really useful to see how Kris planted up his tomatoes, but it would benefit from sharper editing, esp the bit where Kris said that tomato roots grow "above the stem", and cutting out some of the y'knows and amazings.
I might watch the next one with the sound turned off
The bee hotel was interesting, but I would've liked to have seen someone make a natural bee nest, to contrast. By only showing the plastic hotel, people might think that's the only way bees can survive, when in fact they can nest in your garden quite happily if you aren't too tidyAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

I thought today's show was blooming brilliant, especially with the feature on the beepol bumblebees!!! Only criticism is that there's no links between the different features... I realise they're probably filmed in different locations and on different days but it would improve continuity if for example, Kriss said .....''and now over to Claire in her greenhouse'' at the end of his bit.
Great show though and now off to do some gardening!

Hi Seedling,
Yes, all the sections are filmed on different days at different parts of the UK. We spend a whole day with each presenter so until we get into the edit suite we aren't sure who is going to be in the next show, therefore it makes it impossible to record 'hand-over' links. The last person to be filmed is normally myself (Sean) and at that point I then know what's in the show and where they are. That's why I mostly do the links.

I enjoy the show and was surprised and interested to learn about bumblebees through the post. I also enjoyed the rest of the program. I can't get enough of gardening shows so thanks to those who produce them. SeanJC you remind me of James Nesbitt!
Also am tempted to try guerilla gardening on May 1st, just wish I had some sunflowers planted already.Last edited by bronwen; 18-04-2011, 12:36 AM.

Just realised this morning I watched the 3rd of April show yesterday.. (bonus, one more to watch tonight ) wondered what you lot were on about. I watch is on youtube via the telly as I'm aways busy at 10am on a Sunday.
The main thing that bugs me is the white balance of the camera work. Not sure what kit they're using but at times its awful. The bit with Claire in the greenhouse - the frame was pretty muich blown at one point, but then again I'm a bit picky, and things like that bother me. Still who am I to complain, looking at some of my photo/video stuff I moan at myself
The dude who has the chickens (before on previous shows) contradicts quite a lot of well known information imho.
I enjoy watching gardening stuff - for me GW is too much, probably middle class, I don't find a lot of it relative to me, but this is a bit more relative. Couple of downsides, but then again everyone is different and pleasing everyone is erm, a feat in itself.
Oh, and welcome to the Vine SeanJC where abouts are you based in Wales?

The only way from now on as on-air broadcasts have finished I think?
Can't see myself wanting to watch "telly" sat at my desk looking at a low resolution images, but if I can persuade myself I'm sure that I will appreciate the fact that the lower production costs will mean that the program will go on for longerK's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden

My AppleTV streams it from youtube to the telly fine, Kristen. Unless you're a serious AV freak and have to have everything in HD, it's fine. Infact, it's better than SD broadcasts in my opinion. You may even have an internet enabled TV ? Other solutions are available too, (WD Live, etc) - but for me the apple tv was the cheapest route to do it [however i'd bought it for another reason, the tv side of it is a bonus]

I probably should make the effort ... the telly is miles (well, metaphorically, I don't live in a stately home!) from the PC. Wifi doesn't work brilliantly as the walls are solid (and I'm miserly about having things always-on like the Wifi router, we have Ethernet cable to all rooms that have computers but no Ethernet cables near the TV room, nor a phone line either as it happens ...)
But the more I want to watch missed program on iPlayer etc. the more I will be motivated to do something about it.K's Garden blog the story of the creation of our garden
