Dug up all me spuds, and had a moment of thanks that I wasn't going to have to live on what I grew. Not that bad a crop by weight for the number of plants (trying small numbers of a few different kinds), but almost every one has a hole, or a rotten bit or something which'll stop it keeping.
Propped the biggest two squash up on bricks, as the ground is so squelchy I was worried they'd start rotting along with the grass they were sitting on. Picked the first couple of beans off my dwarf frenchies, also probably the last couple of beans from my dwarf frenchies, plus a few off the climbing beans, which are looking a bit more keen on the whole 'living' thing.
Then, between the showers I did some weeding, said hello to the baby slowworm that's been living under some cardboard for the last week, and picked some lovely juicy slugs.
Planted some of my thugs.....planted out some more leeks.....weeded the asparagus bed .....weeded the gh ......watched a little frog hopping round in the fruit cage .....harvested .....managed to make it home before the thunderstorm
Made rhubarb and ginger jam .....

Raining hard here, so tidied out my "gardening cupboard". Sorted out all my used labels by size and banded them up. I was so bored, I even sharpened all my labelling pencils.
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
Tidied up the top end of the garden, bagged up prunings etc to go to the lottie ....found a newt hiding under some wood.....found a huge frog hiding in what was inspection pit
popped to lottie , did some harvesting and attended a meeting ....

- weeded another 4hrs (grass, grass and more grass)
- dug up all the Mr Little's spuds and filled a bendy bucket
- sowed caliente mustard in the empty spud bed, for autumn's onions
- tied in the dafter French beans which are struggling to find their canes
- collected dried peas for next year's seed
- chopped up the gone-over pea plants, and left on ground as a mulch
- chopped up the last of the poppies too
- deadheaded my Black Knight buddleja which is looking fantastic for the first time ever
- cut loads of lilies for the house, gorgeous
- cut the climbers back to the fence as they're getting in the way of the postman
- cut down the foxgloves & shook the seeds all over the place
- sowed trays of myosotis, Chinese cabbage, Senshyu onions
- cut another bendy bucket full of tomato foliage off, to reduce condensation & mould
- someone had strimmed the flowers I'd planted around the perimeter fence, so I put another load in
- discovered he'd been round my plot strimming my perimeter too: cursed him 1000 curses
Planted out 10 samll plantlets of Thousand Headed kale. Put 6" lengths of 4" plastic pipe around them to deter the pigeons. If there are any left tomorrow evening will probably surround them with chicken wire.

Put about 60 very small, verging on tiny, cloves of garlic into modules to see if they do anything. Acted as labourer for youngest son as he tried to glue the stayput together again. It's better than it was, but it's still work in progress. Watered the toms and found a beautiful round courgette. When granddaughter comes at the weekend, I'm hoping she'll photograph it for me before I pull it.
Yesterday ......raked up the mess of hawthorn and bramble prunings that someone had left in the lane. Uncovered my no dig second earlies and reused the straw to earth up my celery . Replanted the fern I found at the top of the garden , to by the pond. Did some weeding ....
Today went to work , defoliated some tomato greenery , fed and watered them , made jam for the open day ..
