What I did today 2012-2014

  • rendered the last dwarf wall in the lottie greenhouse , sown carrots in a large planter in the home greenhouse sown early cabbage and lettuce in a propagator in home greenhouse, noticed the broccoli (purple sprouting) sown a couple of weeks ago in the home greenhouse as germinated

    • just repotted my chillis and kelsea onions and sown toms (sunbaby), lavender, dahlias and salpiglosis.

      • Actually managed to get some digging done on the veg. plot. Soil not perfect yet (still a bit 'claggy') but it is workable.
        It is the doom of man, that they forget.

          • Sowed passionfruit, pink banana, and more cape gooseberry because they are the only things not sprouting and since everything else I've sown has succeeded, it's really bugging me.

                    • Planted up a few of my own saved shallots. Only about a dozen made it through the winter though so I may need to buy a few more!

                        • My soil was still too wet to dig. Instead put some woodchip on paths, supported over wintered broadbeans, planted grapevine in tunnel and generally pottered about - bliss.

                            • - took some more germinated onions out of the heated prop & put into unheated gh
                              - sowed more onions, lettuce & celeriac
                              - sowed some tomatoes & chillies
                              - chitted some more peas & crimson broadies
                              - finally burnt all the holly & shrub prunings on the chiminea
                              - turned over the home dalek & refilled it with weeds & frost-damaged foliage
                              - dug up and split some crowded primrose clumps
                              - chucked the last of the BFB on the spring bulbs, coming up fast
                              - spread a dozen bags of coffee grounds on the (sticky clay) borders
                              - put the finished indoor crocuses into the gh
                              - pruned camellia & made cuttings
                              - got 3 hrs weeding done up lotty (mostly chickweed, groundsel, grass & dead nettle)

                              • WAS going to do some digging in the garden, but its hammering down so staying inside, and probably sow more seeds.

                                Taking my 2 year old to a party this afternoon so I'm sure it'll stop raining by then.
