  • Went to allotments for a committee meeting. Luckily, our local Council have only raised our ground rent by 3% unlike the likes of Councils around about who are raising there's over 100% in some instances.
Hopefully we needn't raise the ground rent to the plotholders. All will be decided at the AGM on Easter weekend.

    • I went to the two local garden centres getting prices for a few bits and bobs, including another greenhouse, a lean to greenhouse for the back of the garage. It'll be small enough and the heat coming out from the boiler will be coming into it so It'll be warm enough in winter too. They're too expensive so I've decided to build one myself.

I bought some bare root rosa rugosa and planted them out at the bottom of the orchard.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

              • Hi Rhoda.

Some had broad beans i and others had caulis. I think the thin grey 'shrooms came from the toilet rolls originally used as they were sprouting half way down the roll on some. The ones potted on were coming out of the top. The ear shaped 'shroom was in a seed tray of lettuce and the grubs are all over!!

They don't look the nicest! Hope you have managed to get rid of them all.

                      • Cleared some brambles and small hawthorn and hazel bushes and made enough space to plant 2 hops

Also found someone who will have the unwanted raspberry canes and plant them in school gardens and the community allotments

                        • Wandered into the greenhouse to find dead celeriac seedlings and keeled over dried leeks. Have resown apart from that, beggar all else.

                          • I put a bit of edging or a slightly raised bed in the polytunnel, I started last week but finished it off today. I have to weed the other side and do the same to it and then it's on to the greenhouse.
