  • Potted my pepper plants into Morrisons pots and they can live in the polytunnel on the shelving now. Planted two tomato plants into gaps in the polytunnel - Cyril's Choice and Grushovka. Misted both poly and tunnel as they were dry and hot. I wanted humid. Broad beans are really coming on a treat now in the polytunnel. Picked some wild garlic leaves for dinner - I am making fresh pasta with roasted tomato, garlic and mozzarella sauce. Whilst I get on with that, Mr VVG is filling the second raised bed with the soil pile that we have had out back for what feels like forever. We are no longer building a raised patio area.

        • Unfortunately I've been having to continue preparing to vacate my plots although there is a possibility I may be able to stay on. Politicians are now on the job and I can only sit on the sidelines and hope they can put things right. Can't say any more at the moment and don't want to anyway as things may not workout. Politics are not predictable.

            • Finished getting weeds out of allotment bed 6 while Mrs H painted the shed Rustic Brown.

Went to the garden centre for lunch and to see if they had any maincrop spuds left. They had loads! Selling off at £1 per 2Kg bag, so couldn't resist buying too many (3 bags). Also impulse-bought 8 cabbage plants in modules and a bay tree!

Back to the allotment to start digging bed 7.

Sowed wildflowers in new flat patch by the shed (in front of what will be the chunky bench).
Sowed white clover on the turf settee.

                    • Decided earlier in the week to chit some seeds, just out of curiosity.
Many sprouted within 4 days and I have potted on today. I may possibly chit many of my tender plants in future, although I don't want to "faff" around to much.
                      The seeds were:
                      2 Ghost pumpkins
                      2 Harrier butternut squash
                      2 Patty pan courgette
                      4 Alicante tomato
                      2 Honeydew melon
                      2 Burpless tasty green cues
                      16 Borlotti beans
                      Lots of "Speedy" french beans
I still have a few more seeds chitting and want to give them a bit more time to sprout and then pot on.
