  • Potted up some aquilegia and chervil, also pricked out some lettuce and ruby chard and potted that on (this year Im trying to give things a head start before they go in the ground!). Also top dressed my container apple trees.
Very thankful to the heavy rain last night though, or else I would be having to water everything today as well!

          • Delegated, gave instructions, watched, picked out a few stones and roots to look busy and ended up with 2 more pallet crates filled with next door's flower bed and a mound of soil looking for a home
Now pondering what to plant in 4 raised beds in a very sunny spot

            • Went to plot and watered most stuff. Won't be able to get down again until Sunday.

Gave 4 tomato plants to the school's garden club. With giving another one to a colleague earlier week and a few small ones frazzling in the green house I think I'm down to just 32 plants.

              • Weeded a bit, dug a bit, planted a bit, just another boring day at the offiice.

Had far to many toms last year so stuck a few sweetcorn plants in the greenhouse border for a change of scenery.
Still have to find somewhere to put the 40 odd various types of tomato plants though!

                • Carted a load of home made compost from the garden down to the allotment and loaded up a pound shop grow bag with it in the blowaway. Planted a courgette plant in it.
Planted out the 3 little purple sprouting broccoli plants left from last year.
Chopped down a big borage plant, chopped it up smaller and used it as mulch around the willows.
                  Weeded and watered.
Caught the sun on my back - ah, summer at last!

                    • Had a day at my project house bricklaying and giving the lawn a cut. Couldn't resist calling at the allotment on the way home and did another shift there.
Planted red torpedo onions and leeks in a bed I'd previously prepared.
Watered anything that seemed to be flagging
Hand weeded another bed of weeds, mainly thistles.

                        • Put up thirty metres of rabbit netting , weeded my onion bed and caught some free ranging chicks up and put back were they belong, took some brassica plants to a friend and had a well deserved brew

                          • Planted out my sweetcorn and squashes. I'm still trying to find a suitable space for the pumpkins though.

I remember feeling overwhelmed 3 years ago when I first saw the allotment and wondering how I would ever fill it. Now it's not nearly big enough (except when it comes to weeding!)

                            • Lol, upset the other half by walking through the house with watering cans. I must get myself a hose pipe. Made another 2 litre bottle of nettles and water. Picked out 7 to 9 weeds. Fillled both my water butts with water hyacinths. Told the dog (Eric) numerous times to get out of the way, whilst struggeling with heavy watering cans.

Drank 3 cans of Speckled hen.
