  • Swapped Jerusalem artichoke for globe artichokes and comfrey plants with a local Grape (Thanks). Potted on tomato seedlings (Gardeners delight, Blue OSU, Togi, Aranyalma), put all the onion sets into seed trays, sowed parsnip seed into modules.
Noticed that the bank voles that have been feeding from the bird table have grown into a mega huge sleek brown rat - and its just outside the kitchen door! Sorry, birds, that the end of your food for a while.

    • I've emptied one of my daleks on what will be the bean/pea bed dug it in then covered it with card before the local cats find it. Potted on stuff then dug up the last of my parsnips and they're roasting in the oven.
      Location....East Midlands.

      • Transferred greenhouse grown Lisbon Spring onions into fleeced salad bed. Also beetroot. Sowed Little Gem in cool greehouse and also in salad bed.

        • Weeded the onion bed, sorted through the chitting spuds (gave the excess ones to a friend, as I've gone a little overboard!) and dug up another large area of the new lottie area - about 4 sq m of turf. Now I reckon I've got enough bed for the spuds, which I'll put in next weekend. Weeded the little pots with the tomato and pepper seedlings and now I think I'll do away with the non-germinating parsnips on moist tissue (getting mildew on the windowsill and this house has had quite enough of that, thank you!!).

Celebrated by cruising one of the old lorries, as you do!

Took the shelf down in gh before it fell down..........built another one for the other side of gh. The are just laid on the gh borders with trays of seedlings until roof fixings arrive. Had a natter to HM. Went home to watch footy. After getting over the shock of seeing Leeds actually score I went back down for a hour. Sowed some ***snips & carrots into half barrels. Put some sweetcorn & cucumber into modules that had germinated on kitchen paper. Had a cuppa then came home.
That's why my boy is a happy bunny then (Leeds boy)!
We spent six hours up the Lotty, planting more potatoes, my parsnips are sown, planted more horseradish, fed the onions. Did some structural stuff too. Got home, sowed celeriac, more leeks, more beetroot. Shattered and hot bath required!

Lovely weather though - had a picnic up there.

            • Made three raised beds down the allotment, took the drill off my little helper, and filled with manure, took the hammer off my little helper , ready for some topsoil to go on top in a month or so. Came home and planted a tray each of Heinz, Delicious and Paul Robeson tomatoes to ensure I get enough for the seed circle.
Planted some courgette and marrow seeds, potted on some chilli plants.

              • Cut back the Autumn Raspberry canes, weeded a couple of raised beds, planted some Solent Wight Garlic, dug and weeded the Potato bed, then spread some manure over it. Sowed six types of Brussels in Rootrainers (only four of each). Built another raised bed, i'm goin to turn this one into an Asparagus bed, so filling with compost and top soil and weeding is the order for this year. It should be ready for planting next Jan/Feb.

                  • Made another new strawberry bed, I just hate digging them up and throwing them away, they're everywhere!
                    Lots and lots of digging.
Swapped a bag of horse poo for a barrow of grass clippings, which will hopefully get my hot pile hotting up.
Planted more shallots, red onions and a row of carrots, just remembered I forgot(again) to sow some beetroot
Put some cardboard down in the fruit cage.
Chopped some new stinging nettles to add to my hot pile.
Took delivery of a big bag of shredded leylandii branches from a friend.
Had a few breaks to natter with friends whilst the kiddies all played.

Got home and cooked a roast.

                    • Been to the allotment and spent three hours of intense digging. I managed to rescue four brambles for my plot neighbour who was overjoyed (I was muttering under my breath that he'll never ever get rid of them now, but he wouldn't listen). He promised some egyptian onions in return (never heard of them before!).

Managed to dig a whole new bed and I'm very proud indeed. Need to do another four or five beds, so one every weekend will do I think! Just need to remember to start sowing before I start digging, or I'll never get anything in the ground! LOL Job interview tomorrow, so now prepping until my eyes fall out and I'm asleep across the keyboard. (Is it cheating to bring in home made cupcakes??)

                        • Sowed peas and beans outside, weeded and dug beds, one for beetroot, spring onions and carrots next weekend, the other for spuds. Finished paths.
Inside in tunnel potted on strawbs, planted more Rocket spuds, put in another row of spring onions and beetroot.
Lovely, lovely day - finished off with roast beef dinner - yum!

                          • Created three little raised beds in odd corners of the garden between everything else jammed in there. Used up some log rolls and anchoring poles from link a bord in the end so they were free, yay! Filled each with old pot compost and chicken pellets and covered them over ready for planting to keep cats off.

Planted tatties with my four year old in the bargain planters I got with my T&M code. Remembered how expensive it was to do this at a fiver per bag of compost and three bags!

Moved some of the larger pots into the greenhouse for catproofing. Dug out cat poo from gravel and grass. Sank paving slabs from old raised bed site into gravel BBQ pit with hope it reduces fouling.

Picked herbs with son and told him all the names.

                              - Sweet pea saved from last year's plants (my first ever saved seed!)

                              - Coriander
                              - Chives
                              - Thyme

                              - Nasturtium
                              - French Marigold
                              - Comfrey

And I would have sowed some oregano except my seed packet (the foil on) was completely empty! So I emailed the company to tell them and ask for a replacement instead.

                              Phew! It's definitely March!

And I restarted my stuck fermentation crab apple wine. Yay!
