Cut down the sunflowers that had fallen over then left the heads around the garden for the birds.

Cleared up raised bed by disposing of all dying plants, Discovered a tomato plant growing in the middle of it with three green toms and loads of flowers!
Generally tidied the garden.
Took the pot I had painted and planted some Ivy and a confir in for a Christmas present (that's if the confir survives. I have terrible luck with these plants)
Need to go out and get some garlic and get some pots for the broad beans

Pottered about in the garden: cleared the pond and surrounding area and started weeding and moving herbaceous stuff about. Now I'm off to the allotment to plant some onion sets that arrived in the post this week.

I dug over the ground and discovered some white fingered roots growing everywhere tried clearing most of that, cleared the flower bed and planted my fruit trees and the previous tenant took the greenhouse down. Decided on raised beds and marked them out I'll manage to get ten raised beds so very happy. Weather been glorious here

Took the last of the runner beans down. Will try to keep 6 plants as an experiment, in dry compost and re-pot next year as found out that they are perennial. See what advantages that might bring.
Collected 13 bags of horse manure.
Got given a celeriac which i will cook and use as a mash. If it passes the tasty test, will probably grow some next year.

I have been clinging desperately to a ladder (I hate heights) re-routing my water down pipes to collect the damn stuff. My water Bill that came the other day was hair raising. Water in the Torquay area almost double other places. They have had to spend untold millions on sewerage systems because they used to just pump it out to sea. I am thinking of telling them to disconect my sewerage pipe and I will run down and do it off the cliffs. Cleared the raised bed and planted 23 cloves of garlic. Then hid everything away so it doesn't get blown away in the storm!
Then it started to rain so I came back inside. Will finish painting the old kitchen table that I am turning into a potting bench.Last edited by sammy_roser; 26-10-2013, 02:51 PM.

Planted winter onion sets (Radar) to go with three different types of home-saved garlic which have been in for a week or so. Other than some winter lettuce under fleece (it is actually growing, but I'll believe it when I eat it) that's probably it for my overwintering stuff. Last year was quite disillusioning, and I did better with early sowings to transplant out under fleece; I know it wasn't the best of winters, but I think the plot is too exposed and the clay too cold for it ever to be very successful.
I expect tonight's forecast storms to do a thorough job of dismantling the runner beans without human intervention. There may be some debris to collect up tomorrow morning, but then again there may not !
I have a load of farmyard manure from early spring to spread and fork in, but that can wait until we get a drier spell (preferably with a bit of sun) to tempt me out.
