      • Did some general tidying up in the back garden. Moved my cold frame to the sunniest corner of the patio for the winter.

The sweet peas and early caulis are coming along nicely.

        • Went to town with youngest daughter to buy littlest granddaughter some new shoes.

Wilkinsons is not far from Clark's Was very restrained though, only bought 2 kg of Rooster seed potatoes for £2. 75 (and some paint for the hallway).

          • Think Wilkinsons should give Grapes a discount, we all seem to pop in there, and buy stuff.

                • Not able to do a thing at the moment. Have a very inflamed tendon in my groin. Achieved by lifting a very heavy bag of gravel! Doc thought it might be a hernia needing an operation :-(
However he referred me to a consultant and it's 'only' tendinitis, so three weeks of complete rest and a load of powerful anti-inflamitories for me, that are making me fall asleep every afternoon. Oh well it's a good time of year to get this, though it means my wife has to do all the wood sawing :-)
Slightly amazed by the health service - I'm in France - phoned for a hospital appointment on a Friday, got appointment on Tuesday with the consultant.

                  • Put 12 x Maris Peer and 12 x Maris Piper to chit. It's too early, but it makes me happy to see them nesting in their eggboxes in the windowsill. Bought 80 onion sets, 40 red and 40 ordinary from the Original Factory Shop. Also have only ordered 6 packets of seeds from Sarah Raven. This is extremely restrained (for me)!

                        • Achieved quite a lot today, as it wasn't raining, actually sunny.

Collected my seed potatoes from Lottie shop, Rocket and Picasso, and have put them on trays to chit, in spare cool bedroom.

Went to plot and completed laying black fabric and putting the wood chippings on top, on the remaining perimeter of plot, that's all the paths now down, added a few more barrow loads on existing paths, it nay not not stop weeds completely, but will certainly help, and means I don't have to buy another strimmer, or cut paths with shears.

And !!! first of the new 'shaped' raised bed is now in place, only 4 more to go, but the others are not shaped ones, so will be easier apparently. Just need to fill with compost now.

Will take a photo of my 'shaped raised bed' it's lovely.

                          • Sowed Aubergine Pot Black and Early Long Purple into the heated propagator.

Also sowed Basil-Sweet Gen and Lemon, Sage, Thyme and Parsley.

Should have sown leeks and cauli's as well but have run out of time

                            • Went down the lotty as usual this morning. Nothing planned just going to have a tidy up. Ended up helping service the lawn mowers and strimmer's. One of the pot holder stopped by to let us know she was packing up (she'd had a letter about the state of her plot). Found out I'm second on the list for a additional plot so could happen soon (fingers crossed).

                              • Sowed some flower and cabbage seeds indoors, then went down the allotment to continue tidying up and preparation for spring.

What a lovely day, felt like spring already! Took some more pictures for the blog.
