Did a few hours today, forecast for the next few days is not good, managed to get all the old compost heap dug out and dug over and removed a couple more bags of couch grass and Bindweed roots . . . started shoring up the side path alongside my "structure", there is a level difference to my neighbour.
Not exactly today, but over the last week I have spent over £150 at Wilkinsons - bought 4 large gravel trays, loads of seeds, some perennial flower plants (begonias, astrantias, phlox, stuff like that), 6 bags Miracle Grow compost (being home delivered next Tuesday) for the tomatoes I hope to grow in the greenhouse, lots of pots and an impulse grape vine
Took down the netting over the broccoli as snow is forecast as a possibility here. Went to B&Q and tried to buy some lights to make a 2nd grow light for my tomatoes and peppers. Managed to put something together but one of the lights has the wrong connector so I'll have to go back and change it.
Made myself some lunch with home grown salad and tomato - the first salad leaves of the year.
Ordered a new cold frame.
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy
Started a blog for the garden. Put up a first post and drafted another seven, briefly covering last years antics and an overview of the plan for this year. Never done one before ... but then again as of last year I'd never done any gardening either
Potted up broad beans, peas, garlic grown from bulbils, shallots saved from last year and elephant garlic. Put some dwarf French beans in a polybag of compost in the kitchen.
We had a very brief sunny spell earlier, but now a storm has arrived. Still managed to achieve "something" though ...
Collared a neighbour to give me a hand, and we upended the large upright planters which had my burdock and horseradish in last year. The burdock is over 2ft long and couldn't be lifted like carrots, and wanted to be sure I had got every last bit of horseradish out so I can reuse the planter for something else next year without fear of it coming back.
Looks like I'll not be able to do anything else now until next weekend
Brief sunny spell, popped to plot, several barrow loads of chippings put down as a base for my new 'shaped' raised bed, will be organising top soil/compost soon. Looks good.
Another 3 beds are being constructed in garage at this moment, rain is about to happen, wind is getting v gusty.
Was our local Potato Day today so got there early and picked my order and my father in-laws order up. I got three bulbs of garlic that I have no memory of ordering but is on my hand written order form (senior moment) . When I went to get my egg trays form the outhouse they were missing. My dear wife has composted them Need to get some more now so I can get them chitting.

The day started cold but sunny and it was great to be at the lotty. Spent all day down there
We planted a fan cherry tree and an espalier (spelling?) Pear tree which we saved from the nursery intensive care unit. They look a bit sad but I think they will be fine now they have btheir boots in the soil.
I also glazed my greenhouse in twinwall, so im nearly ready for sowing. Just need to build the staging tomorrow.
Beautiful warm sunny afternoon, so I planted out the turnips and Pak Choi seedlings in the polytunnel beds. Sowed some climbing peas for an early crop.
Decided it would be better with gates.........................sorry bout the quality, it was getting dark...............

Now then Bigmallly have you got a new plot. I saw some pics the other day posted by yourself. Think it was in the calendar thread and I thought that it didn't look like your plot as I remembered it. I know its been around 10 months since I was posting regularly so I guess you could of moved or even emigrated o_O Anywho looking good though
