Planted out the French beans in their toilet rolls - about half of what I started off, the snugs got to the other half Potted on a couple of sunflowers then got the hosepipe out and watered almost everything.
Levelled more of the garden...downside is whomever set the fence did a poor job. Ground level is around 3 inches BELOW the base of the concrete piles that hold the panels....
Joy.
Still can work around it I guess.
Raised bed is almost full. Can't see me planting at the weekend but more surprising things have happened this week.
Pricked out beetroot seedlings into little pots - have run out of little pots! Must get inventive and try newspaper pots or loo rolls. Did lots of weeding and watering. Found a dead rat complete with maggots - yuk! Now I think about it, I remember finding one in a similar location about a year ago. Is someone leaving me little presents??
Gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes
I got sick of watering my leek sedlings in pots so I found a spot at the end of a bed of spring cabbage and planted the clumps there. There they will happily stay until I find some room for the plants.
I weeded an area that had sweet peas last year and planted sunflowers. The predominent weed in this area was buttercup which could only have come from the muck i used on last years sweet peas. I also planted a clump of seedlings I grew from seeds taken from a bee garden. It will be interesting to see what comes up!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
A lovely visit to lottie in the sunshine. Garlic looks superb. Broadies less so, very nibbled. My plum tree and two pear trees have set fruit for the very first time!! Tiny hard green plums the size of a pinhead and about ten pears in all. Magic!
Tied my climbing roses in a bit more, did some weeding, planted out some more runner (Gigantes) and french bean (Blauhilde) plants and bobbed some Crown Prince pumpkin plants in too, under individual plastic domes. Also discovered a strange egg in my raised bed (have started a new thread on this as it is a complete mystery to me)!
My Autumn 2016 blog entry, all about Plum Glut Guilt:
Tried to just SIT in the garden and enjoy the sun, but it's impossible - I'm constantly up and down doing little jobs!
Ordered two coldframes because they were half price and just the right size to fit between the greenhouse and the path. All ready for next year!
Pulled up the last of the weeds from the raised beds Just the paths and ground level beds to go
There is no dress rehearsal for life. Not many second chances. Make the most of every day and spend as much of it as you can creating little moments of happiness!
Got up early. Squirted on factor thirty. Planted lots and lots of gladiolus. Faffed, dug out docks from shallots-made me think of uncle snadger-dug them out, and had to lob them. Far.
Planted out climbing french beans and squashes-probably shouldn't have, but did. Sadly, killed a few of squashes in being none to delicate. Thought about planting out tomatos, but couldn't muster the energy.
I get out of work at 7pm which will give me just enough time once home to pull the cork on a bottle of rioja and plant 12 tomato plants into 12 £1 plastic buckets with holes drilled in them for drainage. Time permitting before the takeaway arrives, I may also get some pots of chard into the pottager beds.
I was at work this morning, working 6 days is tiring. I went to lottie for an hour after. When there I didn't do much really a bit of weeding, a bit of watering. I planted out 2 more squashes and a tomato because it's leaves were getting scorched in the plastic greenhouse.
I did sow more climbing French beans round my wigwams because the last lot failed to materialise.
I'll take sweet peas and sweet corn to plot tomorrow to start hardening off.

I too have a dead rat at one end of my plot, hoping they don't choose to die there too often!
Fitted a keypad lock
Had a beer
Relocated a security light
Had a beer
Went for a walk for food supplies
Had a snooze
Had a BBQ
Had some cocktails
Laughed till the tears flowed
Lit the chimenea
Had more cocktails
Laughed some more
Took someones dog for a late night walk
Fell over the dog
Got back and sat in front of the still roaring chiminea with more cocktails and giggles till 1:30AM
