.......because you're thinking of putting the kettle on and making a pot of tea perhaps, you old weirdo. (Veggie Chicken - 25/01/18)

Grabbed a window of opportunity in the weather (if 4 degrees in a gale with intermittent sleet can be described as a window...) to do a bit of clearing up. Dropped the netting down over my winter brassicas as snow is a possibility tonight. The bigger veggiemesh cage has stronger supports and will hopefully be ok (I may regret leaving it, we shall see) - its a pain to take off the veggiemesh as the cage is up against the garage wall.
Cleared up some of the dead nasturtiums and weeded behind the pea netting which I have not been able to get at all summer. Covered it with a mulch of cocoashell to prevent the same problem next year.
Washed a load more dirty plant pots - I'm sure they breed in my garage.
Harvested some potatoes and carrots.
Now its getting dark, so back to the plans for next year's garden...

What are your little long eared furry SOB's called pumpkin? It's got me thinking.
Me? I've done little, very, very little indeed. And enjoying it. Tomorrow is another day.Ali

made a start on rediscovering my compost bin at the back of the plot. The majority of the brambles were too thick for my shears so OH is going to hire some petrol hedge strimmer thingy and hack it down for me
Found some lovely compost in the bottom of it too

Managed to fell a tree, pull up some stumps. It was so nice to be able to do normal things again without worrying that I would keel over.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

I seem to be doing nothing but cutting things down at the moment. Chopped a branch off the apple tree as it was rubbing up against the fence. Cut some more dead leaves off the strawberries and removed several flower spikes. Cut down the sedum which had pretty much fallen down in the wind. Chopped some of the clematis down - work in progress. Cut some dead bits off one of the japanese maples. Looked at my lovely japanese maple "butterfly" which is dying and has to come down, but I couldn't bear to start on that today so I went and set some alfalfa seeds to soak instead.A life is like a garden.
