Went to RHS Wisley with my daughter and baby grandaughter for a birthday treat to see the butterflies and to have lunch. Well worth a visit if you like flutterbies, in a lovely hothouse setting. Lots of photo ops too once my camera lens and glasses had unfogged.
DD bought me 2 bags of seed potatoes, charlotte and vivaldi, both 2nd earlies, what a lovely girl she is

Took six bags of wood chippings to the allotment and spread them on the paths. They didn't go very far, but I've got a woodchip mountain at home to chip away at.
Should be enough to do all my allotment paths (bit by bit) with maybe enough left to add to the chook runs!

Planted 2 apple trees, set up a leaf collection area and half filled it, put up a mini greenhouse in the shed.

I have finally started to set out my veggie plot. First two beds laid out, hopefully all will be done by Sunday. I am looking forward to ordering my asparagus and fruit trees now.

This morning I've been putting the seed potatoes in trays to chit

                  First Earlies: Casablanca

                  Second Earlies: Kestrel

                  Main Crop: Majestic

                  & Main Crop: Desiree

This afternoon I sorted my little seed box in to some sort of system hopefully this will work better for me then the spreadsheet I did last year, I got fed up having to switch the lappy on everytime I wanted to know what I was going to sow this month.

I've also done some tidying up but didn't take any photo cause cleaning boring right!

Put 2 potatoes that have been chitting for the last month into warmed prepared soil in a pot in the greenhouse and shed. An experiment to see if any thing will happen. Put more pots to chit. Sowed some early Nantes carrots under cloche and a large pot of leek seed.

Planted my shallots in a howling gale and ran round collecting my netting which was making a bid for freedom.

Also put 8 barrows of manure on various parts of my plot.

Added another 6 bags of woodchippings to my main path this evening. What a difference it makes covering those weeds with woodchip!
