      • Sowed loads of Cucurbits'

3 x Courgette 'De Nice A Fruit Rond' (never had a round courgette before so really hoping these come up)
4 x Squash 'Patty Pan Custard White'
3 x Courgette 'All Green Bush'
        3 x Courgette 'F1 Defender'
        3 x Courgette 'F1 Atena'

and 3 x Kohl Rabi 'Purple Vienna'

Planted out 2 x Broccoli 'Romanesque' and 1 x Caballo Nero to replace slug damaged plants.

Covered all seedlings with pop bottle cloches

Tried to mulch round my leeks and chard with grass cuttings - never done this before, lets see if it helps.

        • Pulled all me onions up, 2/3rds had bolted. Added the fermented bokashi bucket contents to the 2nd dalek composter and covered the bokashi with clippings, prunings and some earth. Potted on yet more tomatoes. Removedloads of raspberry suckers to allow more air to circulate and give me chance to walk by that part of the garden without getting scratched to bits.

Snap in onions and raspberries. Also tied up the runner bean canes - slightly late - oops! Pulled some broad beans up and out as I took off the last few beans. Still about twenty plants left. Picked last of rhubarb I guess, stewed and now frozen. Dug up some potatoes. Twas a flying visit.

            • Fruit bed weeded and re-netted. Too wet to do anything else.

                • Today I went to the lottie and...
                  Dug some spuds
Dug up some badly blackfly damaged broadies (rescued a few beans for tonight though)
Dug over a patch ready for some leeks
Looked woefully at badly overgrown areas of plot... sigh...
Went to shop and bought more bush bean seeds and a cucumber plant, despite telling myself I wouldn't- both sowings and the first lot of shop bought plants have died this year. Will it be 4th time lucky? Will it heck...
                  Came home and...
                  picked some more broadies
Dug up some broadie plants (have had a lot of beans from these plants though so maybe they were just old?)
                  Planted cucumber
                  Planted 6 tomato plants
                  planted basil.
                  Picked some broccoli
                  Watered.

                  • Discovered that all my calabrese and romanesco seedlings have gone brown and crispy. And most of my lettuce seedlings have vanished without a trace. Sowed some more calabrese and some kale in modules.

I'm thinking I might have to try sowing salad leaves in guttering. Direct sowing doesn't seem to be going well.

                      • Picked loads and loads of elderflowers - the car smelt like an army of tom cats had taken up residence on the way home!

Split it into two lots - one for cordial, and one for champagne

                        • Pulled dozens of huge thistle plants out of the shingle front garden and put them in the council bin. One of the few things that have grown really well this year and I don't want them. My arms are now very scratched even though I was careful.

                          • Pulled a few onions that look like they've bulbed up all they're going to. Tasted my first pod pea, sweet and delish. There aren't many, just enough for the grandchildren to eat as they wander round the veg.
