Went out in the garden in my dressing gown just after eight this morning to rescue the two fence panels that had blown down from the back alley before some idiot ran over them. Out again this afternoon (fully dressed) to help No 1 son put them back where they belong.

We have a fence down too RL, but I pity the poor peeps in Scotland and the North.
Have sown more tomatoes. Old raspberry canes moved on allotment and redcurrant bush moved and brought to home. Need to finish clearing area on allotment tomorrow and get brick planters made before Mr VVG returns to work.Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein

It would be nice to be able to get up to my lottie - the weather here has been awful now for days/weeks?
And it seems that every time it improves, I'm having to do something else.
The bad weather has to end soon so I can get all the outside jobs done.
At least I've been through my seed box and have ordered new stuff so I'll be raring to goForbidden Fruits make many Jams.

(Yesterday) We cut back a row of willows planted by the last owners of the house. They were planted too close together and some had not taken. Dug up and redistributed the ones that were still alive. Put black plastic and mulch down to protect them. Prepared cuttings for planting from the prunings.

Cleaned out greenhouse and reorganised everything into neat stacks. Reported some mints and thymes. Trimmed up some old raspberry canes that we have dug up, heeled them into compost ready for replanting elsewhere.Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein

- took about 50 black bamboo root cuttings
- dug up my favourite dahlia and split it into pots in the gh, for early cuttings
- checked out the dog poo: nearly gone now after just a week (I put a layer of leafmould on top of it)
- cut some roses (!) for the house
- did an hour's weeding up the lotty (flowering grass & chickweed, a little bit of groundsel too)
- retrieved my dalek lid from next door's plot
- noticed that scabious & red clover have just started flowering, about 2 months too early
- potted up some tulip bulbs that've been in the fridge since Nov: early flowers for indoors
- cleaned out the fridge: set the saved spuds for chitting on the east windowsill (cool & light)Last edited by Two_Sheds; 09-01-2012, 04:12 PM.All gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

Planted an elephant garlic bulb given to me by my Dad about a month ago (ooops, got waylaid by Christmas!)
Planted some shallots
Planted the second pear tree in a massive pot (well my husband did, I just watched!)
Sowed some cauliflower in modules, which are in my porch.Last edited by Helgalush; 08-01-2012, 05:27 PM.
