  • Planted out my hardened off crimson flowered broad beans and martock beans. Positioned paving slabs for permanent path through the allotment.
Visited a local nursery and ordered 36 shrubs for planing along the car park at the new allotment site. Chosen to attract beneficial insects and provie dyear round interest. It was amazing to spend £180 and feel we'd got a bargain. (Father of one of the plotholders has a nursery, and offered us pot grown shrubs at half price )

I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

      • I've sowed loads today, just to take me away from the computer for a bit (home working can be such a drag lol). Coriander, garlic chives, some salads, normal chives, cabbage and even tried some butternut squash as an experiment. Let's see how that goes! Soooo good to be sowing again

        • - cut down the autumn rasp canes to the ground
          - pulled some ready leafmould out from behind the shed, for mixing with my potting compost
          - moved germinated stuff from the heated prop to the unheated gh
          - sowed more stuff in the heated prop
          - fed the French bean (planted by accident, now 3ft tall and in my bedroom)
          - nabbed more Starbucks coffee grounds to sprinkle on the borders
          - did a bit of weeding at school, mostly charlock
          - broke up the old sunflower stalks & composted, very easy job after being stood out all winter
          - hand weeded the couch grass coming over from next door
          - turned over & remixed another dalek (they're all full)
          - took temp of daleks with new thermometer (the one at home is 26c)
          - planted my chitted pea seeds: Douce Provence at home, Meteor on the lotty
          - planted out the Asda shallots I thought were dead: all had lovely healthy roots

          • A sprig each of rosemary and sage sprouted roots in water, so I planted those in toilet rolls.

Sprayed with milk again, even though the smell of milk was quite something here in sunny London. Bought some leaf fertiliser since I haven't got grown up borage yet to make home-made feed, and added some to my greens. Bought 20L compost for £1 at Lidl and walked - slowly - home. I'm thinking if I do it every day for ten days, I might fill up my raised beds AND lose weight. Bonus. Might slip a disc too but eh, sacrifices.

Spotted my first bee - HUGE - hovering over my yellow greens' flowers so yay

                • Pulled every muscle I've got! Weeded two onion/garlic beds by hand and fed them (mulching tomorrow). Weeded the legumes bed whilst Mr VVG put a new path through the middle of it. Wood chipped two long pathways. Mulched the legumes and rhubarb beds. Put in three new rhubarb crowns and twenty strawberry plants. Cut back the Autumn fruiting raspberry canes. Part weeded the fruit bed. Lifted a bucket load of leeks.
Fell into the village pub for take out wood fired pizzas, then ate mine whilst in a bath full of bubbles...sublime!

                      • Ooh! First time i can post on here in months! Yesterday i had a good three hours tidying up the flower beds. I also potted up 11 Heuchera babies i came across whilst tidying, hopefully they will take and i can use them when i get round to re-jigging the flower beds when it warms up a wee bit. Still plenty of tidying to do so i'm off out for another couple of hours this morning.

                        • Gloriously sunny day in London! Sowed some lettuce, dill and spinach even though I told myself not to sow any more until my beds were done, but the sunshine just made me want to sow something.

                          • Up early and at the Corn Market for nine. Bought 4 X 20kg bags of Lloyds layers pellets and transported and unloaded them into storage at allotement (Wheelie bin in hut!)
Watered, fed and collected eggs from chooks.
Took the remaining glass out of a greenhouse I've been given and transported to allotment. Disassebled grenhouse frame into large sections and transported them, along with the base to my allotment. This was harder than it seams as there is only a small gate into allotment cut out of a 10 foot fence. I had to manhandle all largish sections over the top of the fence.
Decided to pillage a load of tin sheeting as well which should be useful for a seperating fence between me and next doors plot (Hopefully it will keep his chooks out of my plot)

PS Forgot to mention that I pricked out about 40 sweet peas into pots and modules and watered everything that needed it.

                            • Celebrated Sisters Anniversary of death - or should that be commemorated? Took elderly mater to cemetery and did all that stuff that you do on peoples stones (3 so far).

Came home and looked at seeds planted 23rd. Mizuna is up and I think a Moneymaker seed nudging it's little nose through. The sun is shining and my conservatory/extension is very comfortable. The cats like it too.

Have planted the seeds in the Aldi hanging basket that I bought about a month ago. Chilli Pepper. A bit disappointed that only 6 seeds but then you thin them down to 3 so fingers crossed that they come up and I have some strong ones to choose.

Looking in seed box now to see what to plant next. So far also planted flat leaf parsley, coriander , and tomato Aranyalma from HSL.

Popped to my lottie after seeing mater and am really excited that the garlic I planted at the end of October is now about 3 inches tall. I thought it was going to be a no show and bought some spring planting just in case. Still time to plant them...just need to find a space.

I'm in love with the sun. Long time no see.

                              • Spent the whole day in the garden, moved strawberries and rhubarb not sure if its the right time or not but I wanted that area to grow climbing beans and peas rather than having them in pots.
