  • Lots. Dug, prepared and decided a thick layer of newspaer was in order for my mini asparasgus bed...then planted.
Had a couple of bonfires, encouraging me to pull up any dry weed I could see.
Emptied, almost, the couch compost onto another 'cheat bed'(15 barrow loads!)
Turned the now empty compost bin into the start of a hot pile.
    Bath, kiddies to bed, wine.
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

Ran out of compost so had to take another trip to B&Q to buy more. Separated three strawberry plants, which were sharing a pot, so they each have a pot of their own now and are the first plants to make their way into their new glass home.
      Got any pics?????

Not yet but I'll sort some out soon.

Today I've been busy sowing seed, everything is being grown in tubs in the greenhouse and I have no idea how it will all work out, some might grow and some might not but I will endeavour to learn and improve my growing skills over time. With that said, today I've sown lettuce, parsnips, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, onions and spring onions.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

            • I potted up my lillies and set them around the garden. I also fitted these tubs to the fence just outside the kitchen. The idea is that I'll plant cropping lettuce and some herbs in them so my better half can crop them as and when she needs them.

              • Sowed some sweet peas in the tunnel. The sunshine has encouraged all sorts of things to poke their little heads up - lovely. Think the tunnel on a sunny afternoon this time of year is my favourite place in the world to be. Got home to find 3 apple trees have been delivered - yippee!

                • Diddly Squit. Was going to lotment, then got call to pick grandson from school cos he wasn't feeling well. Brought him home and arranged for parents to pick him up. Then got call from youngest daughter to say youngest granddaughter was unwell and she was worried. Went and picked them up, got them settled. Now got to pick dog up from the vet. Maybe this should have been on the rant thread.

                    • Just finished a 10 day stint at work so had a big list of jobs to do. Managed to complete half. The clear blue skies helped no end.

Lifted weed suppressant up to extend a bed for the spuds, dug over and removed bindweed (surprisingly not that much).
Gutted greenhouse, rearranged inside so both sides could be utilised this year with potting bench now at the back.
Sowed Herbs (Parsley, Rosemary, Oregano, Thyme, Basil, & Sage) for our kitchen windowsill garden.
Sowed first lettuces and Cabbages of the year in biodegradable pots.
Moved BroadBean and Pea shoots out in to the greenhouse.

                      • I killed a huge rat at the allotments with my air gun. I think I just about killed him with the first shot but put him out of his misery with another.

Had a bit of a bonfire and burned my redcurrant, whitecurrant and gooseberry prunings.

                        • Moved a shrub so I can sow a wild flower mix in the area, cleared another area to grow tall peas and beans then sown peas in loo rolls.

Sat in the sunshine drinking tea without my jumper on

                            • Sown some peas, broad beans - all. HSL, Real Seeds or Zazzy ones, so unusual for me
Potted on leeks and sweet pea Cupani. Cleaned the greenhouse and spent a wistful four hours in there.
